Champion the building you love as a Guardian

Guardians play a crucial role in Landmark’s work, as leading supporters of our historic building rescue projects. Becoming a Guardian is an opportunity to champion somewhere special to you, and to be closely involved in the transformation of a building at-risk into a thriving Landmark.

As a Guardian, you will join a small group of like-minded philanthropic supporters and follow the restoration of your chosen building from start to finish. Gifts split over 2 years are also welcome.

RAF Ibsley Watch Office

Built in 1940, at the height of the Battle of Britain, the Watch Office at RAF Ibsley in the New Forest is a rare surviving example of its design. From the runways at Ibsley, airmen flew out into hostile skies to defend Britain with great courage and at huge personal cost.

Guardians of RAF Ibsley Watch Office have each given £6,000 or more to ensure that this remarkable place survives for future generations. Please consider joining them with your own major gift in memory of all who served here.

A grey, derelict building surrounded by greenery

South Tower at Wentworth Woodhouse

One of the largest and most notable 18th century houses in England, this Palladian mansion near Rotherham in South Yorkshire is set in an equally important landscape. Working in partnership with the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, we hope to create a Landmark for two in the South Tower.

A fundraising appeal will be launched in late 2024, and supporters who give £6,000 or more will be recognised as Guardians of the South Tower.

Mavisbank House

Thanks to a major grant of £5.3m from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, Landmark is embarking on the early stages of a plan for Mavisbank, one of the most important buildings at risk in Britain. The vital first phase will resolve the long-standing ownership and access issues, enable up-to-date condition surveys and stabilise the building before any more historic fabric falls away. A second phase, to restore Mavisbank as a Landmark, is planned to follow in due course.

Give £10,000 or more to this early phase of the project to become a Rescue Guardian, helping lay the foundations for Mavisbank’s future.
