Local travel information and directions:

Every visit to Lundy helps support the Lundy Company care for the special island. Every day trip begins with a travel ticket, either posted to you in advance or collected in-person from on the day of travel. Here we share information about traveling to our local area and how to find our offices.

The nearest railway station is Barnstaple and there are regular bus connections from there to Bideford and Ilfracombe.

MS Oldenburg berths at Bideford Quay in the centre of town, 250 yards north of the Old Bideford Bridge.

By car

If travelling by car, especially if you have a motorhome, we recommend you seek parking details from Torridge Council https://www.torridge.gov.uk/parking/bideford (available Monday-Friday on 01237 428700).

Some options include:

  • Riverbank Long Stay Car Park (EX39 2QS)
    £5 all day
    You must park in the long stay section located at the far end of Riverbank Car Park on Kingsley Road. Please ensure you are parked beyond machine ‘3’.
    If paying by cash you will need the correct change for the machines.
    Payment by credit/debit card is on departure only.
    Payment also possible via the RingGo app or by calling 01237 402405 and using location code: 54508.
  • Cattle Market Car Park (EX39 2QG)
    £2 all day
    If paying by cash you will need the correct change for the machines.
    Payment by credit/debit card is on departure only.
    Payment also possible via the RingGo app or by calling 01237 402405 and using location code: 54511.

By taxi

Taxi options in Bideford include Taxi Number Six who have a taxi rank on the quay.
Booking in advance is advised.

The Lundy Shore Office is on the quay side between Riverbank car park and the old bridge, it is a white building with a silver roof on the river side of the quay.

  • The Pier Car Park located outside the Lundy Office (EX34 9EQ)
    £15 all day, cash or card payment.
    Payment also possible via the RingGo app or by calling 01271 823825 and using location code 3633
  • Ropery Road Car Park (EX34 9EF)
    £9.50 all day, cash or card payment.
    Please allow a 10-minute walk to the pier. 
  • Larkstone Lane (EX34 9QG)
    £6 all day, cash only
    Payment also possible via the RingGo app or by calling 01271 823825 and using location code: 3630.
    Please allow at least a 25-minute walk to the pier.
  • Marine Drive Short Stay Car Park (EX34 9NU)
    £15 all day, cash or card payment
    Payment also possible via the RingGo app or by calling 01271 823825 and using location code: 3631.
  • Hillsborough Long Stay Car Park (EX34 9QJ)
    £2.50 all day, cash only
    Payment also possible via the RingGo app or by calling 01271 823825 and using location code: code 3636.
    Allow at least a 30-minute walk.

The Lundy Booking Office is the last building on Ilfracombe Pier after the aquarium.
