Calverley Old Hall Cultural Craft Exchange

Saturday 15 June 2024
11am – 2pm

Book free tickets

In advance of refugee week, and in partnership with Migration Yorkshire, we are pleased to welcome six talented craftspeople to Calverley Old Hall to demonstrate a range of traditional craft skills. This event is made possible thanks to National Lottery players, through The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The event will feature crafts and crafters from Japan, Hong Kong, and even the UNESCO listed Intangible Heritage craft of Ukrainian Petrykivka painting.

The six demonstrators will each share their own craft, with the opportunity to have a chat, learn more about the crafts and get hands on to have a go yourself.

The event is free of charge, and will also be a chance to learn a bit about Calverley Old Hall, and the traditional craft skills we have been using on site through the current restoration project by the Landmark Trust.

Drop in anytime after 11am - last admission will be 1.45pm, and the event will close at 2pm. Whilst booking is not essential we would ask that you register for the event via Eventbrite so that we can provide you with updates regarding the event and manage capacities. Priority will be given to those who have pre-registered.

Please note: In exceptional circumstances you may be asked to wait a few moments if maximum building capacity is reached.

Accessibility

Calverley Old Hall has been designed to be as accessible as possible, a lift is available providing access to all floors. If you require lift access, please let us know via the registration on Eventbrite. On the day, please alert staff at the front entrance on arrival who will be happy to direct you towards lift access. We do all we can to enable access wherever possible; for further information or if you have any access concerns that you’d like to discuss before visiting, please contact our Booking Enquiries team on 01628 825925 or [email protected]. The Booking Office is open Mon to Fri - 9am to 5pm.

Getting here

There is no parking on site, the building is located in the centre of Calverley, on Woodhall Road, so we encourage visitors to use Leeds and Bradford’s excellent public transport to travel to the event. If you need to drive, there is ample on street parking in the surrounding area. Please park considerately for our neighbours.

Donating to The Landmark Trust

As a charity, the Landmark Trust relies on donations to support our work. We couldn’t have rescued over 200 Landmarks without the support of people like you.

Your support saves historic buildings in danger of being lost forever and makes them available for all to experience and enjoy.

Your donation could help train the craftspeople needed to restore buildings like this, or it could offer opportunities to young people to experience history first-hand, through our open days and free stays for study groups.

We would be delighted if you felt able to add a gift to your booking today. We can’t wait to stay in touch and show you the difference your support has made. Thank you!
