As our rescue of Grade II* Cobham Dairy nears completion, this is a chance to learn more about this enchanting building from some of those most closely involved with its restoration. We are delighted to welcome Master Plasterer, Philip Gaches to describe how he and his team has recreated Wyatt’s challenging plaster vaults, corbels, ceiling bosses and oak leaf clusters that are one of the Dairy’s chief glories. Anna Keay will join him to explain the history of this most decorative of 18th-century estate buildings, built for feminine retreat and practical leisure. Caroline Stanford will consider architect James Wyatt’s unusual use of Penrhyn slate cladding in imitation of dressed stone at the dairy, a short-lived innovation that we have succeeded in replicating. The evening promises new insights, as we bring Cobham Dairy back to life.

The lecture will start at 6.30pm in the magnificent Livery Hall in Goldsmiths' Hall and will last approximately an hour. Drinks will follow in the Drawing Room overflowing into the Exhibition Room where there will be silver and gold ware on display.
