Landmark’s buildings inspire creativity in all its guises, and this exhibition builds upon Landmark’s own evolving relationship with the arts. While our core mission is rescuing historic buildings, Landmark’s places give wider benefits, inspiring both those who stay in them and those who treasure them as part of their local scene.
In recent years we have actively sought to encourage contemporary artistic endeavour springing from our buildings and landscapes (2013 Stirling Prize winner Astley Castle, Antony Gormley’s 2015 installation LAND and composer Kerry Andrew’s 2015 Anthem for Landmark, as well as artists in residence on Heritage Lottery Funded projects). Inspiring Landmarks is our next step along this path.
All three exhibiting artists, Kurt Jackson, Ed Kluz and Prue Cooper, are long-time Landmarkers. Each has known and stayed in our buildings over many years, translating their experiences into their art. All the works in the exhibition will be for sale, and the artists will generously donate 30% of all proceeds to Landmark. Please note that purchase is by cash or cheque only.
During the exhibition, a lively programme of talks and debates will be held in the gallery space, exploring the relationship between heritage, contemporary arts and the creative process. Tickets are available online from our Gift Shop or by phoning Booking Enquiries on 01628 825 920.
