Standing guard over Tewkesbury Abbey, this grand building of about 1500 provides a captivating base from which to explore the interesting town of Tewkesbury, the Cotswolds and Cheltenham.

No.1 Shore Cottages is one of a terrace of simple fishermen’s dwellings reached by footbridge. Its front door opens onto the beach overlooking a beautiful cove, a favourite of birds and seals.

This tiny building is a miraculous survival, a medieval well chapel. It is built above an ancient and venerated spring that feeds three linked pools and that is still flowing today.
