The revival of Calverley Old Hall

Calverley Old Hall is a Grade I-listed manor house which, before rescue and conversion work began, was considered amongst the most at-risk buildings in England.

The building originally came to The Landmark Trust in 1982, and one corner of Calverley Old Hall held a Landmark for four decades. In 2022 we were able at last to begin a major, two-year project to bring the whole site back into new use, creating spectacular self-catering holiday accommodation for up to 10 people alongside a dedicated space for local communities. 

Forty-three years in the making, the momentous, immensely complex repair and conversion project was made possible thanks to £1,750,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and many other generous supporters. 

We are delighted to have been able to rescue and restore this Grade-1 listed building for future generations, and provide meaningful training opportunities for the local community.

Other ways to visit 

Parts of Calverley Old Hall are open to the public all year round. You are welcome to visit the Chapel, open most Mondays and Fridays, explore the Community Gardens or hire the Community Space for your own events.  We will also be holding regular open days, workshops and events, so do keep an eye on our Calverley Old Hall events page to see what's coming up.

Crafting Cultures 

At the heart of Calverley’s restoration has been a series of workshops, events, activities and training opportunities, including the sharing of traditional craft skills with volunteers, trainees, and apprentices. Coming at a time of instability and uncertainty in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the project aimed to provide stepping-stones for a new generation of heritage specialists, including through accredited training and meaningful work experience placements.
