Set in stone: Calverley Old Hall Stone Carving Workshops

As part of our National Lottery Heritage Funded restoration project at Calverley Old Hall, we are running a programme of events including training and engagement activities for a range of audiences. This includes a series of creative stone carving workshops run by professional stone craftsman, Patrick Walls.

Over the course of a one-day workshop, you will learn the basics of stone carving and produce your own small bas-relief carving which may be placed in the grounds of Calverley Old Hall to form part of a small sculpture trail for future visitors. You will also help us to design a sculpture which will be displayed in the garden at Calverley Old Hall once the restoration is complete.

With workshops like this in high-demand, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Workshops are free of charge to participants, and all are welcome. Whether you have some experience of stone carving or have never picked up a chisel before, no prior knowledge is required, just a willingness to learn and have fun.

PPE: All personal protective equipment will be supplied by the Landmark Trust, however you will need to ensure that you are wearing suitable clothing (long sleeves and long trousers) with sturdy, closed toe shoes or boots.

Accessibility: Workshops are open to all and can be adapted for those with accessibility needs. Please email [email protected] or add a note in your Eventbrite booking if you have any access requirements so that we can make any reasonable adjustments for you.
