Calverley Old Hall Crafting Cultures videos
Thanks to funding from National Lottery Players, we have been able to produce some short training videos to share some of the traditional craft skills being used on site.
One of the Landmark Trust’s key aims as a charity is to promote the use of traditional craft skills in historic buildings. Landmark aims to inspire the next generation of craftspeople by promoting public access to these traditional methods of working wherever possible. With this in mind, we have produced a series of short videos, each focused on a different craft skill, with the aim of explaining the importance of keeping these skills alive. The videos are intended to provide guidance and give an insight into the work we do on site.
Craft skills training at Calverley Old Hall
Hear from some of the organisations and individuals, including Leeds Asylum Seeker Support Network, and Canopy Housing, who have benefitted from the traditional craft skills workshops at Calverley Old Hall. With thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and all of the lottery players who have made this project possible.
A career in wall painting conservation
Listen to members of the team from Opus Conservation who have worked on the Painted Chamber at Calverley Old Hall. They explain why a career in wall painting conservation is so special and give advice to anyone who might be interested in conservation as a career.
Historic Window Restoration at Calverley Old Hall
Many older houses still retain their traditional windows. In the first of our series of training videos, join Stuart Leavy, Regional Surveyor for the Landmark Trust as he reveals more about the importance of repairing historic windows and demonstrates how to replace a broken sash cord at our recent National Lottery Heritage Funded restoration project, Calverley Old Hall.
